Swim Lessons 2011

I was debating swim lessons again this summer..the past two summers we have signed up at the city swimming pool for Parent-Toddler swim classes...that are 4 days a week for two weeks. And honestly DJ didn't learn much.....nor was he even that comfortable being in the water. A friend of mine signed her son up at an indoor pool so we looked into it also. It is just once a week for a full 30min and has 2 kids to 1 instructor. You pay monthly and can go for as long as you want. Also just around the time i wanted to sign him up they had a great deal on a GROUPON for it so it was a no brainer to just do it! :) I'm hoping he will become more comfortable being in the water so when we go to other places that have pools or the lake he won't latch on to me and not ever want to get in the water :) Well the first day he was VERY apprehensive but i tried for like 5min to convince him to get in and he kept saying in a little bit...well i finally just handed him to his instructor and he was FINE...whew! We've been to two sessions and both times it has only been DJ w/ the instructor so that is awesome...1:1 lessons...woo hoo!

He sat right down and got in the water all by himself the second lesson. He has done great getting his face in the water and blowing bubbles, kicking and even floating on his back and jumping in from the side to her. I'm soo glad to see him having fun in the water instead of crying and holding on to us for dear life...it probably is better it is not us in the water with him :) But they teach kids that if a toy falls in the water that they don't go get it, that they call for Mommy or Daddy and then that if they fall in the water that they should turn over and float on their back and call out HELP, HELP...they practice doing both of these at the end of every lesson.
