Toddler Room

WOW i haven't update in awhile. Sadly we have not been taking as many pictures lately and then i don't really think to update the blog.

DJ officially had his first whole week in the Toddler Room last week. They have 12-18mo olds and also 18-24 together. They play separately and together on and off during the day. He is adjusting very well. They only have one nap at 12:30 (but he is still taking 2 at home, which works better for mommy but he is just too crabby to wait until 12:30) and they sleep on low cots, no more crib! They have snacks at 9am and 3pm which he seems to be eating all they give him (unlike at home..hee). They prefer him to not use a bottle, which he has been doing pretty well drinking his milk at each meal out of the sippy cup (we have tried several kinds..just ask if you need recommendations) but sometimes not all of it so we supplement the rest out of the bottle...we are going to not send the bottle this week so we'll see how he does. I worry more about him getting enough milk, but i guess if he's thirsty he'll drink. He loves to play with the kids and push around a blue bike outside. They do art and sensory daily and have a music lady come once a week that plays instruments and sings songs. On the down side, the little stinker has suddenly thought that when Mommy and Daddy say "NO" that we are somehow playing a game with him and he SMILES and continues doing whatever we tell him not to do. Note that prior to the toddler room our little Angel (haaa, haa) listened to No and stopped immediately. Now he loves to stand on his chair and put his hands on the TV. We have now tried to ignore him which seems to work faster than telling him no and praising him when he is sitting, we'll see how long that lasts. We just can't believe how big our little boy is getting.

We finally got DJ some "real big boy shoes", vs the soft leather ones. He started to get a little more stable walking so thought it was time. He has now had to get use to walking in them and is getting more stable. He is still wobbly on soft surfaces but it is soo cute. He got his first fat lip at the shoe store walking down the middle aisle, on tile, in his new Nike's (that match Daddy's). Poor baby, this actually is the first time he has bled that i can recall, guess it's just a matter of time!

We took DJ to the park for the first time (to play) and he enjoyed the swings after Mommy put him on her lap and swung for a bit and then put him in his own. He didn't however like the dirt, sand, grass or bark..haa..go figure. Given he's still a little unstable in the shoes on soft surfaces, his hands go out when he's going to fall and he doesn't like to get his hands dirty..uh oh..we gotta change that quick! But once we got him up on the play set he loved running back and forth and going down the slides.

Here's a recent pic of DJ and Gabriel....Gabriel was trying to give DJ a kiss and DJ wanted off the grass.....Gabriel is a pro on the grass...hopefully he can give DJ some pointers :)
