Sports Boy

Here are some pics from the last month of DJ.

DJ helps Mommy cook Eggs every weekend...he is soo cute trying to crack the eggs open and then he has to stir it and knows we have to put milk in it too! He even likes to dip his scrambled eggs in syrup :) Also note the NEW Dodgers hat he is now obsessed with too! It's so fun he loves to wear hats and also his sunglasses now every time we leave the house. He even puts them on the back of his head like Daddy does when we are inside! DJ knows that baseball is Dodgers, Football is Raiders and Basketball is Lakers :)

DJ's been going to the driving range pretty much every weekend with daddy. Apparently he's the talk at the driving range when he's there. He even had a lucky shot on the green when he was practicing his putting :)

Reading books w/ Gamma and Gampa. DJ now has added Gamma's favorite Color (Yellow) and Gampa's (Blue) to his "who's favorite color is..." in his Honey Pot book! He now says....Yellow is Me-ma and Gamma's, Purple is Mommy and Grandma, Green is DJ and Uncle Doug, Blue is Daddy, Pop-pop and Gampa :) How he remembers this stuff i don't know!

DJ snuggled up on our bed one morning and pulled the covers up saying he was going "night, night" :) DJ wearing all his sports gear..headband..arm bands, basketball shirt and ball in hand :) We just bought a basketball hoop from a neighbors garage sale down the street...now i think the kid has all the sport covered except maybe tennis! Butt he wants to throw the ball underhand into the hoop which i don't get as he always throws the baseball and football overhand...

What he's been up to this month.....DJ had a huge reality check after coming back from our Chico trip. He was constantly whining and not listening to us and really just getting tooooo many warnings. Coming home Mommy and Daddy have strictly enforced no whining or hitting and using words and no fits and doing what we ask after one warning or it's straight to time out. Also Daddy has worked some magic and DJ goes immediately to the time out spot without a fight, sits there silently the entire 2 minutes..who would have thought! Ugh it has been tough but he has gotten A LOT better with no whining and throwing fits...crossing my fingers it lasts! :)

DJ has started the "why" phase..everything is "why, why, why"..even for things that really don't make sense to ask why for too! He now tells us to "stay there" when he wants to go somewhere by himself which he NEVER goes to other rooms by himself in our house so this is nice! When he wants to know about something he now says "Mommy whats that called" or "Mommy what's that look like"..it's soo cute! He now knows that his name is DJ Kubik and his "other" name is Damon Junior :) Then knows Mommy's name is Sara and Daddy's name is Damon too :) DJ is once again saying all his ABC's and knows their sounds..woo hoo! He is obsessed with watching his "ABC" show still and only wants to watch that besides baseball :) He has no interest thus far learning the #'s by association but can count to 15 :) We caught him in his crib one morning saying his own version of "brown bear brown bear what do you see" but will change it up and say "pillow, pillow what do you see...i see Elmo looking at me...Elmo Elmo what do you see...i see DJ looking at me"...etc...haa! Oddly DJ started stuttering a few weeks ago and thankfully as seemed to subsided now. Apparently it is common at this age and it seemed more his brain was going too fast for him to spit it out...he would always do it for the first word of a question normally, but then other times not do it at all. It was pretty consistent over last weekend but noticeably has stopped now..whew!

DJ is FINALLY sitting on the potty again...he has yet to "go potty while on it again"..but we are just sooo thankful he is sitting on it again and not freaked out to do it. Hopefully this is the start of the next phase into potty training! He tell us when he's going but won't obviously go on the potty first! Also DJ SHOCKED us and actually sat allll by himself for his haircut in the chair on the booster seat AND wore the cape! This is soo huge, as we always try but he immediately says no and wants to sit on my lap and won't dare put the cape on so of course all the hair is all over me and him and he's itchy. He of course was bribed with treats but we normally give him treats to stay distracted anyways but Miss Brenda (that cuts his hair) had some Yogurt bites that apparently were more enticing than his Fruit treats we have :) Hopefully he does it again for the next cut!

We also had a great Father's Day weekend. Damon's Dad and step mom Lucille came up for a visit. We were suppose to be joined by the Madison clan but Kendall got sick :( We all had a great time hanging out, BBQing and watching Damon's baseball game!
