Kubik Family: DJ's 4th Birthday!

January 18....my first baby turned 4 years old!! I seriously can't believe it...and never thought at 4 years old a child would seem so "grown up" and independent either! Each year is so much fun watching DJ grow and learn new things and see his personality develop!

Since i'm hoping to some day print out this blog for a keepsake i have to of course capture what he is in to at this age :) Jake is still his best friend and Maddie his "girlfriend" :) At school instead of riding bikes as much they are more into playing in the sandbox and using shovels! His favorite color is still green....he loves Disney Cars still and wanted a Cars and later Mater party! He loves to watch Bob the Builder, Max and Ruby, Curious George, Special Agent Oso, word world, even back to Wonder Pets too...has quickly learned to play his leap pad (his first ever video game) and loves it...thankfully they are all learning games and even has books that reads to him. He really enjoys writing his letters and is getting more into drawing and coloring. He prefers to write his name out as Damon Jr right now vs DJ :) He loves his phonics and now math class at school and is really into the activities and is a quick learner says Miss Shelly! He has been going to swim lessons since May and has just earned his 3rd ribbon and can swim a half lap on his belly and back on his own! He got his second big boy bike and loves to ride it and his scooter. We tried his little bike w/out training wheels but isn't quite comfortable yet. He likes to go to the driving range to play golf and hits balls off the Tee and thrown to him. We are still working on his throwing :) He is also sitting in a booster seat in the car now and loves being a big boy! He is a GREAT big brother and is always looking out for Miles, wants to know why Miles isn't going with us somewhere, wants to wipe his mouth when he spits up or give him his pacifier when he's sad. He has to give him a hug and kiss every night before bed and always goes to say good morning when he gets up...Miles just smiles big at his big brother! He even gave one of his birthday dollar bills to Miles :) DJ is so cute telling us he loves us at random moments..it just melts our heart. Then he'll say "i love you more" and we go back and forth...he will put his arms and legs out and say i love you "thiiiiiisss much"...lol and you almost have to let him win or he'll just keep going..haa! DJ is still a great eater...is finally eating sandwiches and raw carrots...so will eat pretty much all fruit but still only green beans, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli for veggies. He also likes quesadillas again...his favorite is probably hangaburgers and pizza, chicken nuggets and turkey dogs :) He is great at cleaning up his plate after each meal and putting it on the counter. He dresses himself for bed and in the morning everyday...even likes to pick out his own outfits now and then :) He is fully potty trained and rarely has any accidents at night and only a few during the day when he gets too busy playing and barely makes it to the potty! He loves to read books before bed and has to sleep w/ 2-3 blankets and usually carries them all downstairs along w/ his lightening mcqueen pillow pet each day (he also has a penguin, dog, and dolphin pillow pet). Also loves to wear his lightening mcqueen slippers to bed and now his cleats before school and when he gets home to go get the mail. He loooves to get the mail w/ daddy and look for "surprises" if there is mail for him or a key for the big mailbox :) He takes showers and baths and just varies each night. He is a funny kid and likes to be silly...he loves to play with his flute, binoculars, camera, superman cape, foam sword and shield and remote control cars. He enjoys playing card games and board games and is still working on being ok when he doesn't always win! :)

This is the first year i think he really understood it was his birthday. He kept counting down the days. Even the morning of his birthday he said he could do things on his own since he is 4yrs old now...lol! Like go upstairs by himself to his room to get something that he usually doesn't like to do!
DJ wanted to help me make him some birthday eggs for his breakfast!

I made cake pops this year for his bday to take to school...the were really easy and fun! made them green for DJ's favorite color!

This was DJ's party at school...they had a happy birthday crown for him and then he wanted to wear his cape too! Here is DJ, Jake and Maddie! So crazy these 3 were in the infant room together!
